February 5th 2010 - Club AGM
This will begin at 8pm in the Upper Shalford Village Hall and is a social occasion, with wine and cheese to follow. Please help improve your club by coming along!
October 2009 - Junior Davis Cup Tournament
In the half-term holidays three tournaments were played for U14's, U10's and U8's in the Davis Cup format. For those that don't know, this is where teams of two play against other teams, each playing a singles match and one doubles match (often to decide the tie).
Congratulations to James Green and Toby Rust for winning the U11's and Nicky Roberts and Tom Webb for winning the U14's.
October 2009 - Clubmark Award Received From Surrey LTA
After much work (and paperwork!), the club has been awarded the 'Clubmark' status. This is given to all types of sports clubs around the country who "achieve excellent standards throughout" according to Sport England's national scheme. It also allows the club to access LTA funding.

October 2009 - Club Championship Finals
The 2009 senior and junior club championships took place on the 11th October. With a fair few finals put back a few weeks, with various injuries etc, the day still went well, despite being a bit drizzly with the following results:
Men's U35 Singles: Ashley Mount bt. Mike Friedlos
Men's over 35 Singles: Paul Noel bt. Steve Belcher
The Youngster Doubles: Blair and Theres daintry bt. Muriel and Jim Rattray
Junior Doubles: Nicky Roberts and Adam Simmons bt. Jerome Noel and Isaac Lewis
U10 Singles: Robert Green bt. Max Robson
U14 Singles: Luke Rodgers bt. Ben Harding
U16 Singles: Matt Jones bt. Simon Medlicott
September 2009 - Mini Tennis Club Championships
On a perfect summerlike day, top club juniors played an U8 championships in the morning followed by U9 championships in the afternoon.
In the U8's Anja, Oliver, William, Grace , Thalia, Tom and Tommy played a round robin, with William Cluff eventually taking the championships with a hard fought battle against Grace Edwards, coming through with a 10-8 victory.
The U9's followed, where players took part in a round robin then knockout phase. In probably the highest quality match ever seen at Shalford, Max Robson beat Toby Rust in one semi-final (who eventually took 3rd place) and James Green beat William Cluff in the other. In the final, nerves seemed to affect both players, where in three very tight sets, the large crowd witnessed both players saving numerous match points, before James Green eventually won 9-7 in the decider.
August 2009 - Cranleigh Open Tournament Success
Once again, there was a number of victories at the Cranleigh Open in its 81st year, held at Cranleigh School. In the local senior doubles event, coaches Matt Trevail and Jonny Thomson took the title, in the U10 event Robert Green won the consolation singles event and in the U8 event William Cluff took won the consolation event in his first ever tournament!
Other Shalford players representing Shalford well included Alex Dangerfield, Josh Pistorius, Joe Earle, Andrew Hunter, Andrew Mercer, Angus Burns, James Green, Jake Harvey, Rhys Trevelyan, Pearse McCarron, Oliver Taylor, Grace Edwards, George and Harry Rock!
June 2009 - Junior Team News
In the summer 2009 Mini Tennis leagues, the standout team was the girls U8 team, who came 2nd in their league and was led by Grace Edwards, with Anja Atkin and Zoe Pearce also helping out. The boys U8's team did well and finished 4th out of 8 teams in their league and the U9 team came 6th.
The U12 team did rather well and thrashed all the opposing teams to win their league and get promotion for next season!! Well done to Jerome Noel, Isaac Lewis, Josh Pistorius and Oliver Taylor
23rd May 2009 - Court Repainting
All courts will be newly repainted, which will mean the courts will be closes until Tuesday/Wednesday the following week (depending on drying time).
16th May 2009 - Surrey LTA U8/U9 Junior Tour Tournaments
On an extremely windy day (with spectators having to hold down the mini nets!) juniors from Shalford LTC took on other players from around Surrey and neighbouring counties in these difficult, yet great quality tournaments.
In the U8's event Grace Edwards did extremely well to reach the quarter-finals, with Harry and George Rock, Archie Stevens, Cole Batstone and Isaac Farrent all putting in good performances representing their home club.
The U9's saw Shalford's James Green having to take on Ryan Golesworthy in the final (known as Hampshire's top U9 player!!). James played some stunning shots, but narrowly lost in 3 sets of a great final. Two Shalford players also got to the final of the consolation event Shalford's, with Toby Rust beating Callum Sargent.
20th February 2009 - Half-term Junior Singles Tournament
A busy tournament of great quality tennis saw Isaac Lewis win the U13's round robin event (shown below). In the U8's, Harry Rock went on to win the tournament.
23rd December 2008 - Christmas Junior Doubles Tournament
Looks like everyone had lots of fun at the Christmas junior event. Thanks to all the parents that helped out and congratulations to the following winners: Jerome and Will in the U12's, Robert and Tom in the U10's and Harry and Grace in the U8's.
18th December 2008 - Club Christmas Party
Thanks for everyone that came to this Christmas social occasion and made it a lovely night for all. Here's couple of pictures from the evening, including a selection of the 2008 club championship winners:
29th October 2008 - Head Coach Rewarded
Matt was lucky enough to be rewarded by the Lawn Tennis Association for his contribution to British Tennis with a Golf and Dinner day at the world famous Belfry Golf Club near Birmingham. Although the golf course (as used in the Ryder cup) was exceedingly difficult, it was a great day with other top coaches from around the country!
12th October 2008 - Club Championships Finals Day
After record numbers of members took part in the club championships over the summer, seniors and juniors created great watching for all the spectators on a lovely summers like day. All the results can be found in the competition section, but here's some of the action and finalists from the day (more senior action to follow soon):
28th September 2008 - Guildford and District Junior League Results and Singles Tournament
After all the doubles matches over the summer against local clubs, the juniors had great results, winning the U16 league, coming 2nd in the U12's and 3rd in the U14's. In the singles competition, they did even better, winning the boys U12's (Ben Harding), boys U14's (Matt Jones) and girls U16's (Mary Tyler). Here's a selection of the stars:

to be play on club finals day (October 12th).
13th July 2008 - U8 Team: Mini League Champions
Congratulations to the 'Shalford Allstars' team - Matthew Voss, James Dickinson, Toby Stiles and Charlie Hubbard, who have been competing in the Surrey LTA Mini Red League at St. George's College, Weybridge. After competing against a number of other clubs, they won their league and will go through to the Surrey finals in October.

21st December 2007 - Shalford Christmas Junior Doubles Tournament
On a rather chilly winter day the first Christmas junior doubles tournament was held. Amazingly 16 players took part in the U9's event and 8 players took part in the U12's event and the tennis was of the highest level for all the spectators watching on with their mulled wine to keep them warm!
In the U9's event Susanna Burke and Robert Green eventually won the event, beating Charlie Kidd and Matthew Voss in the final. In the U12's event Liam Jones and Alex Dangerfield beat Toby Sear and Tom Singleton in an extremely close final, after nearly 10 match points!

11th November 2007 - Tennis Surrey Junior Tour, Woking LTCC 8U Tournament
Shalford LTC Mini Tennis strength and depth was shown by Clare Huttly, James Stiles, Hugh Lawrence and Toby Stiles representing the club at this Mini Tennis Red Tournament held at Woking LTCC. Other players from around Surrey battled in some great quality matches, with James Green and Toby Stiles eventually making it through the group stages and semi-finals to meet each other in a repeat of the Shalford final in the summer. After some outstanding quality tennis with rallies of 20+!, James Green eventually won a very close match 10-8 to win at his first external tournament.

23rd September 2007- Guildford and District Junior League Singles Tournament
Well done to Ben Harding, Matt Jones, Mary Tyler and Jamie Windley for representing Shalford LTC at the Guildford and District League Singles Competition. They all played very well, with special congratulations to Mary Tyler for winning the U14 girls title for the second year running. Very impressive!
9th September 2007 - Club Championship Finals Day
This year the juniors joined the seniors for finals day with great tennis and some very long (and emotional) finals by all accounts! 25th August 2007 - Mini Championships 2007
The first club Mini Tennis Championships took place on the 24th August, with some excellent level tennis played by all the 6-10yr olds and some very close matches. In the hard fought finals James Green beat Toby Stiles in the Mini Red event (U8's) and Jamie Reed beat Robert Green in the Mini Orange event (U10's).
